       "To Excel"

To excel is to continually perform
Not for a moment or moments
Not for a day or days
But to perform day after day
Month after month after month
And to make that uncommon performance
Look commonplace.

To excel is to take the inner drive
Of competition and not only embrace it,
But master it.

It is no wonder then, that when one
Truly excels, one is known for excellence.
It cannot be taught, or legislated, or
Willed into existence
It must come from the very depths of an
Individual's desire
To be the best."

Private Lessons

Private lessons are one of the most important steps any player can take in his or her musical life. Not only do private lessons accelerate the student's development on a given instrument, but they can increase proficiency and aptitude in other areas of learning as well. Studies have shown that children who apply themselves in the creative arts also learn how to apply themselves in academics--and how to do so in a fun, invigorating, and inspired way.

Choosing a Private-Lessons Teacher

A good private teacher tailors each lesson to the individual student in a way that enables him or her to "get it" quickly and to feel a sense of accomplishment and improvement at every turn.

An excellent private teacher does these things too, but also inspires students to seek new levels of development--to become a "self-starter," and to build a relationship with the instrument that endures on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. An excellent private teacher mentors his or her students with the care and attention normally reserved for a family member, instilling within the student a passion and a drive to push beyond his or her boundaries.

My Philosophy

My philosophy is that every student--and every person--holds within him- or herself more talent and potential than even they are aware of, and that the only limitations we have are those we place upon ourselves. As a teacher, I see it as my job to mentor my students, and to impart my love of music in a way that instills a passion for learning and improvement not just in drumming, but in life.

My Location

I teach out of my home studio in East Cobb, located between Sprayberry and Lassiter high schools, four days a week (excluding Mondays). I am also happy to work around any scheduling conflicts that arise due to sports, marching band, tutoring, professional gigs, travel, or any other commitments my students may have.

Some people find it easier and more convenient if their teacher comes to them. I am happy to make house calls and regularly do so.

Rates

My rates are reasonable and competitive. Please email me for a detailed description and schedule!
